Bombus pascuorum is a very widespread all over Europe, from the Mediterranean coast to the Barent's sea shores. It is also an highly variable species with many subspecies.
In Turkey there are 3 subpecies, from West to east, olympicus, paphlagonicus and rehbinderi. While the first looks like most specimens from Netherlands of North Norway, the last two recall some local forms that could be found here and there in Germany.
In Anatolia, Rasmont & Flagothier (1996) observed 911 specimens of B. pascuorum, from 3 to 2300 m (median = 1240m), with 80 % of the observations between 800 and 1740 m. The species is clearly more montane than in western Europe, perhaps because it stays clear from the vast steppes that extend at lower altitudes in this region.
Reinig (1972) regards B. pascuorum as a forest species while Pittioni & Schmidt (1942) and Rasmont (1988) see it more as a wood-edge one. Indeed, it does not usually live outside more or less woody areas. In Near-East, it can be encountered in the woody steppe but never in the true steppe.
Generally, B. pascuorum is found together with B. lapidarius and B. hortorum.
In the West-Palaearctic, B. pascuorum is well known as the most polytrophic bumblebee species. It forages on hundreds of flowers species. In Anatolia, while Özbek (2000) mentions 66 foraging plants, we have observed the species on 25 flowers species, mainly Symphytum asperum (72 observations), Digitalis ferruginea (51), Rhododendron ungernii (24), Labiatae (22), Salvia verticillata (20), Trigonella caerulea (20), Prunella vulgaris (16), Prunella grandiflora (14), Echium vulgare (11), Trifolium pratense (9), Epilobium angustifolium (8), Rubus platyphyllos (8), Stachys germanica (8), Trifolium sp. (8), Carduae (7), Lamium maculatum (7).

Bunların başlıcaları; Symphytum asperum (72 gözlem), Digitalis ferruginea (51), Rhododendron ungernii (24), Labiatae (22), Salvia verticillata (20), Trigonella caerulea (20), Prunella vulgaris (16), Prunella grandiflora (14), Echium vulgare (11), Trifolium pratense (9), Epilobium angustifolium (8), Rubus platyphyllos (8), Stachys germanica (8), Trifolium sp. (8), Carduae (7), Lamium maculatum (7).
