Bombus zonatus is common in Greece, Macedonia, Bulgaria, European Turkey, Anatolia, and Armenia. Some locations are reported from Albania, Romania, Crimea, Caucasus, Georgia, Azerbaydzhan and NW. Iran. The most northern locality known is near Volgograd (Russia). The most oriental populations (Anatolia, Transcaucasia, Caucasus, N. Iran) refeer to the ssp. apicalis, the other ones are from the nominal ssp.
