Simpanurgus phyllopodus is currently the most sketchy known genus in Iberian Peninsula. Only 5 specimens (all males) are included in the type series.
These specimens were caught at the very end of July near Segovia (Madrona), while foraging on Eryngium.
As a consequence of this deep lack of knowledge, the phylogenetic relationships of that taxon are only hypothesized based on morphological evidences. Simpanurgus phyllopodus is actually placed 'par défaut' among Camptopoeina subtribe.
